Chinese Queer Feminist Activist LI Maizi

 

Looking well beyond that big, red flag...

LI Maizi ist eine inzwischen weltbekannte chinesische Aktivistin, die für die Rechte der Frauen in China kämpft. Sie musste aus China in die USA fliehen, weil Kolleginnen von ihr bereits inhaftiert wurden. LI Maizi wird uns aus erster Hand über den feministischen Widerstand in China im letzten Jahrzehnt berichten, beginnend mit einer eine Einführung in die chinesische Frauenbewegung seit 2012. Daran werden sich Beschreibungen einiger spektakulärer Aktionen anschließen, z.B, "Blutige Bräute", "Besetzung der Herrentoilette", "Metoo-Bewegung", "Weißbuch-Bewegung" etc., über die weltweit in den Medien berichtet wurde.

LI Maizi will give us a first hand account about feminist resistance in China over the past decade. Maizi will make an introduction about Chinese feminism activism as the main topic, introducing us from 2012 to present, including the topics about Bloody Brides, Occupying the men's room, Metoo Movement, White Paper Movement, etc.

About the speaker

Li Tingting 李婷婷, also known as Li Maizi 李麦子, is a Chinese queer feminist Activist and a member of the Feminist Five. She is internationally recognized as one of Foreign Policy's 100 global-thinkers and one of the BBC's 100 women in 2015. She is currently based in New York.

Li Tingting 李婷婷, auch bekannt als Li Maizi 李麦子, ist eine chinesische queer-feministische Aktivistin und ein Mitglied der Feminist Five. Die Zeitschrift Foreign Policy nannte sie als eine international  anerkanntesten 100 Global Thinkers; die britische BBC zählte sie im Jahr 2015 ebenfalls zu den einhundert einflussreichsten Frauen der Welt. Sie lebt derzeit in New York.
